MetroCard - Subway, New York

On my way to Subway. My destination is to Times Square, 42 Street, Manhattan.

Going down to Subway from Main Street Station . This is the first station from Flushing.

Inside the Subway train. The subway was an experience in itself and if anyone has seen the film Ghost you will know what I mean!

The journey took about 35 minutes to reach Times Square, 42 Street.

Metrocard $7.50 per day, $25 for 7 days, $81 for 31 days. For unlimited ride.

The best way to travel in and around New York is with an Unlimited Ride MetroCard. With this card, I can take New York City Transit subways and local buses all day long.

Armed with a MetroCard, a Subway map and a list of must-see places of interest in Times Square etc.

The subway is so close to the surface that you can feel the ground rumble as trains pass underneath. Some stations have a second lower tunnel that you can see through the steel work of the tracks and pillars of the tunnel above.

On our way to Manhattan. The weather was good.

Brooklyn Bridge.

The three bridges that span the East River and connect Manhattan to Brooklyn are arranged, from South to North, according to the mnemonic BMW: the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan Bridge and the Williamsburg Bridge.

Once we arrived in lower Manhattan, we walked to the South Street Seaport at Pier 17. Here we did a bit of shopping and took some photos of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Headed to Edison Municipal Court, New Jersey. My purpose here is to translate to Mandarin for one Chinese man who does not understand English. This is my first experience attending a court in front of the Chief Judge. The Chief Judge is Mr. Emery Z. Toth.

When his case is called, we came forward through the gate and stand behind the table to our right to speak to the Judge.

It was raining heavily throughout the day.

Municipal court processes complaints filed against individuals who have been charged with traffic, local ordinance or disorderly persons violations. Charges of a more serious nature, i.e., indictable charges are initially filed with the municipal court and are then forwarded to the Office of the County Prosecutor. There it is determined whether the case will be disposed of at the county level, or if it will be downgraded and returned to the municipal court for disposition.


Petrol price in New Jersey is much cheaper than in New York.

Best Dim Sum in Flushing-Gala Manor, New York

Headed to Gala Manor for Dim Sum with Lilian . Dim sum is an excellent way to celebrate a weekend morning. This Chinese, mainly Cantonese, meal lets you sample lots of nibbles and snacks and share a pot of tea and catch up with friends and family.

Expect to pay $10-$15 per person. The best advice is to arrive early on Saturday and Sundays for dim sum, as early as you can muster. 9a.m. seems about ideal with most of the dim sum carts making the rounds, but none of the crowds and plenty of parking still available.

American Idol 2008

"American Idol" gets down to its final 2 contestants.

It'll be David vs. David.

Syesha Mercado was voted off "American Idol" Wednesday night, paving the way for the expected showdown between David Archuleta and David Cook.

There's Archuleta, the 17-year-old singing prodigy from Murray, Utah, with the overly involved stage dad. And there's Cook, the 25-year-old former bartender from Blue Springs, Mo., with an emo edge that the angelic Arculeta lacks.

Who will snag the title next Wednesday?

One thing is for sure: His name will be David.
